Former Teachers

As an experienced educator, you already know the challenges and rewards of being a teacher. We recognize the value of your experience in the classroom and provide a variety of ways in which you can return to teaching. If you aren’t prepared to return to a full-time teaching position, we offer opportunities as mentors, coaches, and part-time teachers.

Here’s how to reclaim your place in the classroom and in the lives of students who can greatly benefit from your knowledge and skills:

Texas Certified Teachers

Teachers holding valid teaching certificates and interested in applying for a position with Fort Worth ISD may apply online at www.fwisd.org.

Teachers who were certified prior to May 1, 1986, and who have not successfully completed the reading and writing portion of the Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA), which replaced the TASP, or an appropriate TExES/ExCET exam, will be placed on a six-month Non-Renewable Permit. The teacher must verify completion of the THEA or an appropriate TExES/ExCET exam by the end of the six-month period or current school year.
